G'zOne Type-V meets Military Standards for water resistance, humidity, shock and dust

Verizon Wireless and UTStarcom have announced the availability of the Verizon Wireless G'zOne Type-V, a rugged phone built to withstand harsh environmental conditions.

The G'zOne Type-V is compliant to Military Standards and has passed several tests - performed with all ports (battery, headset and charging) on the phone closed and the antenna secured - including water resistance, immersion in one meter of water, humidity, salt fog, drop, vibration, solar radiation and dust resistance tests.

In addition, the handset can be used to access Verizon's V CAST service, that allows users to download video clips and 3D games on their mobile device; the Get It Now virtual store and the VZ Navigator, that turns the handset into a navigation device, providing maps, turn-by-turn directions and information on more than 14 million points of interest.

The phone features a 2.0 megapixel camera, capable of capturing still images as well as video; instant messenger, supporting AOL Instant Messenger, Yahoo! Messenger and MSN Messenger ; voice dial; picture Caller ID; speakerphone. The handset is compatible with CDMA2000 1 X EV-DO, 800MHz/1900 Mhz networks and has a talk time of 203 minutes and a standby time of 170 hours.

G'zOne Type-V is available from Verizon Wireless for $299.99 with a two-year subscription.
