Rechargeable batteries are one of the most useful types of batteries ever created, especially from the financial point of view, since one set of such batteries - if used properly - lasts a lot longer than a usual set. However, it seems that innovation in this field never stops, since the Moixa Energy Company has come up with an amazing product, namely the USBCell, a battery that can be recharged directly via a computer's USB ports.

This idea is as brilliant as it is simple. After all, there are so many other devices powered via USB, so why not a battery? Moreover, we're talking about a relatively powerful battery, namely an AA NiMH 1.2v 1300mah, strong enough to supply just about any electronic device with power for a reasonable amount of time. Another advantage of these very cool batteries is that the recharge time is not extremely long, as they reach around 90 percent of their full charge after 5 hours of powering via USB.

The USBCell weighs around 22 grams, and can be also be used with classical NiMH chargers at 250mA, although the recharge time is a little longer, of around 7 hours. The device is also quite versatile, since it can be recharged not only via a computers' (including laptops) USB ports, but actually by any USB port, including here gaming consoles; this can only prove to be quite useful, since it eliminates the need to carry around those cumbersome battery chargers. Moreover, it's not even outlandishly expensive, since a pack of 2 costs just around 20 Euro, a bit much for a pack of batteries, but not that much considering the advantages the USBCell offers.

We are just a few, but there are many of you, Softpedia users, out there.
