14 DAY TRIAL // Verizon Wireless announced the release of its Verizon Wireless Network Extender, a device meant to offer users a way to enhance the wireless coverage inside their homes when different factors like location, geography or structural conditions diminish the reception. Users of any Verizon Wireless phone are now able to benefit from stronger signals inside their homes.
“Our new Network Extender device will bring the full benefit of the Verizon Wireless voice network to the small but important segment of customers who may experience a weaker signal in their homes because of geographic or structural conditions,” said Jack Plating, executive vice president and chief operating officer of Verizon Wireless. “Current and prospective customers have told us they want this, and we are responding to that demand. For those who have wanted to sign up for Verizon Wireless service but hesitated because of reception problems unique to their home location, this is the answer.”
The Verizon Wireless Network Extender is basically a “mini-cell site” that has been manufactured by Samsung. The device is not larger than a wireless router box or small attaché case and has been designed so as to route Verizon Wireless calls through the home broadband Internet connection. The device is easy to install and comes ready to use out-of-the-box, while being able to cover an area of around 5,000 square feet.
“It’s like getting a million-dollar cell site in your home for $249.99,” said Mr. Plating. “Network Extender makes Verizon Wireless’ reliable network even more reliable, filling in nooks and crannies for customers who see the need.”
Network Extender can be used for the enhancement of wireless signal when making voice calls, accessing Mobile Web or sending picture/video messages. It can also provide leveraged network access on locations where the Verizon Wireless network has weak coverage. Network Extender does not feature EV-DO speed and service support.
The Verizon Wireless Network Extender can be acquired at select Verizon Wireless Communications Stores, online or by phone. The price of the device has been set at $249.99, plus local taxes. The carrier also stated that there would be no additional charges for calls using Network Extender.
