Recently, mobile phone carrier Verizon Wireless has put in place a new service for its customers, enabling them to exchanged used handsets for VZW gift cards, namely the Verizon Wireless Trade-In Program.

Through this service, users can bring in their order of intensively used devices, and receive funds for the acquisition of another handset, in case one is looking for a new purchase.

Basically, all that users need to do is to head over to the website the wireless carrier put in place for this, where they need to input the phone model they have and to answer a series of questions regarding the condition of the device.

The handsets do not need to be Verizon devices, though users would have to make sure they describe the phone's condition as best as possible.

“By using the Verizon Wireless Trade-In Program, you are disposing of your device in a simple, safe and easy way! Look no further to trade in your used device...we accept all devices, regardless of wireless carrier or model,” the wireless carrier notes said website.

The website would provide an appraisal of what the used mobile phone is worth, while offering the option to have self-addressed prepaid envelope shipped to the user

“In just 4 simple steps, you can determine the value of your device and receive a Verizon Wireless gift card,” the wireless carrier notes.

However, it seems that Verizon won't offer too much for these devices, as an iPhone 4 would bring you only a little more than $200, while a DROID X or a DROID Incredible would be valued at around $120 and S150, respectively.

Those interested in the program should make sure that they are aware of the following:

- Device condition must match your description - Device cannot be returned - Device should be received within 30 days of this appraisal or the value could change - You must delete all personal data and content from the device

The Verizon Wireless Trade-In Program also offers users the possibility to donate the handset, in case there are some who might want to do so.

“Do not trade in devices that are to be returned under Verizon Wireless' Return and Exchange Policy, Warranty, or Extended Warranty programs,” the wireless carrier also states.
