Continuing its expansion campaign across the United States, Verizon Wireless has recently deployed a new cell site in Hoopeston, Illinois. The new cell site will allow a larger number of Verizon customers to use wireless services in the area, and drastically increase the reception quality and data-transfer speed. The company is prepared to invest more than $121.3 million in the state of Illinois this year, over $24 million of the entire investment being directed towards the increase of the network capacity.

Due to the massive investments made in the state of Illinois, Verizon expects to gain a 34% boost in the network's data capacity. In order to avoid any signal loss in case of power surge, the cell site will be permanently backed up by an emergency generator. Areas between County Highway 21 in the North and E 3700 North Road in the South, as well as N 880 East Road in the East and N 1900 East Road in the West will benefit from a signal boost and an increased network data capacity.

“This cell site was built to ensure that our customers in and around Hoopeston can continue relying on their wireless phones for everything from making calls and sending messages to surfing the Internet and getting e-mail,” T.J. Fox, president – Illinois/Wisconsin Region, Verizon Wireless, said. “The most advanced device is only as good as the network it runs on. That’s why we aggressively invest in our Illinois network to increase coverage and capacity for our customers and to continue to raise the bar in network reliability.”

Since it was formed in 2000, Verizon Wireless has made investments of over $59 billion across the United States, with an average of over $5.7 billion spent each year. By putting in large amounts of money, the company has managed to create a premier nationwide network across the United States. Over $1.3 billion were invested in the state of Illinois alone, bringing important improvements to the wireless network in the area.
