Verizon Wireless, the largest telecommunications network in the United States, offering services to more than 89 million subscribers, recently announced important network enhancements in the Livingston County area. According to Verizon, it has expanded the network coverage in this region by deploying a new cell site in Avon, also drastically improving the network capacity along West Henrietta Road and Route 20.

“We’ve always believed even the most advanced device is only as good as the network it runs on. We continue to aggressively invest in our Upstate New York network to increase coverage and capacity for our customers, add new services, and maintain our 3G network leadership,” said Gene Fassett, the executive director of Network for Verizon Wireless’ Upstate New York Region.

These new improvements are part of an aggressive multi-billion network investment the company has undertaken in its attempt to meet the growing demand for data and voice services. Since September 1999, when the company was formed, Verizon has invested over $45 billion nationwide in its network, at an average of $5.5 billion each year. At the same time, investments of over $100 million are planned for the Upstate New York area this year alone.

This massive network coverage expansion allows Verizon to offer services to a wider range of users. Its offer includes: V CAST Music with Rhapsody, text and picture messaging and Mobile Broadband, the high-speed wireless broadband aimed at business customers. Mobile Broadband offers download speeds ranging from 600kbps to 1.4 mbps and upload speeds of 500-800 kbps.

As Verizon indicates, the third quarter of 2009 presented high demand for its services, which led to an important rise in the carrier's total number of subscribers through the addition of 1,2 million new customers. Based on studies performed by various companies across the United States, Verizon Wireless is considered the “nation’s most reliable wireless network.
