Mobile phone carrier Verizon Wireless has just announced that its subscribers who purchased a DROID by Motorola handset can now enjoy a series of new applications available for them via the Verizon Channel in the Android Market. According to the company, the new software solutions can offer users the possibility to easily stay in touch with the loved ones, to stay informed or entertained, and that all are available for them to try on the largest 3G network in the country.

All of the new applications that the owners of a Motorola DROID on Verizon's airwaves can benefit from are included in the Android Market, and the carrier is set to include some of the most “helpful, coolest and popular apps each week in the Verizon Channel in the Android Market” on the DROID by Motorola. There are six apps that Verizon recommends this week, ranging from games to personalized radio solutions and more.

The apps that Verizon says that were included in the Verizon Channel in the Android Market this week include: the WeatherBug Mobile app (bringing live, local weather information on the DROID, all free of charge), Platinum Sudoku (with 640,000 unique Sudoku grids for $2.99), Slacker Radio (delivering free personalized radio on the mobile phone), Fast Food Calorie Counter Pro (to keep the diets on track when on the run for only $1.99), dxTop: Home Alternative (with four different screens for applications, widgets, and more for $2.99), and NBA Mini-Bobble LeBron James (bringing LeBron James right in the palms of the hand for $1.00).

As one can easily imagine, these are not the only applications that Motorola DROID owners can enjoy on their handsets, and those who are tapping into the features of the Android Market should already know that. However, some of the software solutions might be new, and Verizon brings them in front so that users can enjoy the latest and hottest apps, it seems. Those who would like to learn more on the Motorola DROID should head over to the carrier's website, where they will find it available for purchase for $199.99 on a two-year contract agreement and after mail-in rebate.
