Later this summer, mobile phone carrier Verizon Wireless will add to its offering a new LTE-capable smartphone, namely the DROID Bionic from Motorola, and a recently published coming soon page on the company's website confirms that.

The smartphone was unveiled to the world back in January, during the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, and was expected to arrive on shelves at the wireless carrier a few months ago, but got delayed to the summer.

At that time, Motorola announced that it planned a series of modifications to this handset's design, but did not offer specific info on the matter.

However, it seems that it should not be too long before we are able to learn all about the new Motorola DROID Bionic, as the handset is set to arrive on shelves at Verizon in the next weeks.

Some of the latest rumors on the matter suggested that August 4th might be the lucky day for enthusiasts, but nothing is confirmed on the matter for the time being.

However, since Verizon put up the said coming soon page, we should expect for the official announcement to emerge sooner rather than later, that's for sure.

The handset has already been spotted in a series of documents leaked into the wild, but there still are no exact details available on the specifications it would bring along when made available for purchase.

Some suggested that it might arrive with specs that would bring it close to the recently released Motorola DROID 3 smartphone, such as a fast dual-core application processor, and a larger touchscreen display, in addition to the already included 4G LTE radios.

While the specs remain a mystery for the time being, the one thing that is certain is that users can already sign up on Verizon's website to receive info on when the Motorola DROID Bionic might become available for purchase.
