With CDMA, UMTS/HSPA and GSM connectivity

Mobile phone carrier Verizon Wireless announced on Tuesday the release of a new USB wireless modem, the Verizon Wireless UMW190. The fresh product, developed by Personal Communications Devices, LLC, is meant to offer business travelers and other customers easy access to the Internet and e-mail while on the go, and is already available for purchase from the wireless operator.

The Verizon Wireless UMW190 comes to the market with 3G connectivity, and is capable of delivering high-speed Internet. The gadget features support for Dual-Band CDMA Revision A (Rev. A), Tri-Band UMTS / HSPA and Quad-Band GSM / GPRS / EDGE frequencies, which makes it fit for use anywhere around the world. Moreover, Verizon Wireless' VZAccess Manager software enables customers to easily install and configure the modem.

The features list of the new UMW190 USB modem includes: - Dual-Band CDMA Rev. A; Tri-Band (850/1900/2100 MHz UMTS/HSPA) and Quad-Band GSM/GPRS/EDGE (900/1800, 850/1900) - Pre-installed SIM card - Convenient USB connection - Compatible with Windows 2000, XP and Vista - VZAccess Manager software - Visual status indicator - Built-in text messaging, an added communication option - USB modem extension cable.

Verizon has also announced that the new UMW190 modem is already available for purchase via its website and through the company’s business sales channels. In addition, the operator has also stated that the modem will become available for purchase through the Verizon Wireless Communications Stores later during September.

The price tag for the Verizon Wireless UMW190 has been set at $49.99 upon the signing of a two-year contract agreement and after a $50 mail-in rebate (the rebate will be received in the form of a debit card that can be used anywhere it is accepted, the company added).
