Mobile phone carrier Verizon Wireless, in collaboration with ZTE USA, announced on Thursday the release of AD3700, a Mobile Broadband USB modem that sports global connectivity capabilities. The new device comes to the market with the capability to connect to high-speed networks in more than 175 destinations around the world.

According to the wireless operator, the new AD3700 sports connectivity with “Evolution-Data Optimized (EV-DO), Global System for Mobile communications (GSM)/General Packet Radio Service (GPRS)/Enhanced Data Rates for Global Evolution (EDGE) and High Speed Packet Access (HSPA)/Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS) wireless platforms.”

Some of the key features of the new modem include support for Verizon's network, based on the EV-DO Revision A (Rev. A) technology, the VZAccess Manager software, a swivel hinge USB and USB 2.0 high-speed interface, and compatibility with Windows Vista/XP/2000. The new AD3700 measures 3.1” x 1.7” x 0.5” and weighs 1.6 ounces.

Verizon Wireless also states that the new modem can prove a great option for users while on the go. The device is capable of easily detecting the local network and selecting the fastest Internet speed available almost in any place around the world. All that users would need to do to benefit from this connectivity is to activate the global feature on their account with the carrier.

The price tag for the device has been set at $79.99 upon the signing of a two-year contract agreement on a Mobile Broadband plan and after a $50.00 mail-in rebate. The new AD3700 Mobile Broadband USB modem is expected to become available in the carrier's stores starting today, August 14. According to the company, customers will receive the rebate in the form of a debit card that can be used anywhere they are accepted. More details on the modem and on other products from the operator can be found on its website.
