Mobile phone carrier Verizon Wireless has just announced a series of enhancements to its 3G network around the country, including the expansion of its coverage in Kane County and Taylor Ridge, Illinois.

Through the activation of new cell sites in these areas, residents can enjoy better wireless services from the carrier, including better voice and data coverage, the company announced.

In Kane County, the company activated three new cell sites, so as to enhance the services in the following areas:

- Geneva: from Division Street in the north, to Kirk Road in the east, to Fabyan Parkway in the south and to Route 31 in the west. - Barrington Hills: from County Line Road in the north, to Elgin Road in the east, to West Dundee Road in the south and to Route 59 in the west. - Burlington: in and around the community of Burlington.

In Taylor Ridge, the carrier deployed a single new site, offering better coverage from West Front Street in the north, to 134th Avenue West in the south, and from 81st Street West in the east, to 175th Street West in the west.

The company also announced that the new cell site comes with a permanent backup generator that would keep it alive even in times of emergency.

Whether it involves social networking, Internet browsing, downloading apps, accessing the email, making calls, or simply sending messages, the new Verizon network expansion will enable them all.

“Our customers rely on their wireless devices for virtually all of their communication needs,” said T.J. Fox, president, Illinois/Wisconsin Region, Verizon Wireless.

“Ten years ago, ensuring they could make clear calls and stay connected was our top priority. That still is and always will be important.

“Additionally though, we closely monitor all other network usage, such as Internet browsing and downloading apps or music, and make improvements accordingly, so that our customers’ experience on our network is seamless regardless of how they want to use their phone.”

In addition to enhancing and expanding its 3G network, Verizon is also set to offer 4G LTE connectivity capabilities to its customers.

The carrier already started the deployment of such a network, in 38 major metropolitan areas and 60 commercial airports, and should make it available for users in more markets in the near future.
