Verizon Wireless plans to roll out a maintenance update for the DROID RAZR by Motorola. Although there’s no ETA for the update’s delivery, it’s likely to go live by the end of the week.

The DROID RAZR was released in the United States via Verizon last month. Motorola’s Android flagship smartphone is one of the most popular devices launched this year by the US-based handset manufacturer.

Unlike the Galaxy Nexus that already received two software updates since the beginning of the month and is about to get another one by year’s end, the DROID RAZR has no critical software issues, which is one of the reasons that the phone didn’t get any update until now.

Software update 6.11.747.XT912.Verizon.en.US has 57MB size and is delivered OTA (over the air) in stages. DROID RAZR owners who did not receive the notification on the availability of the update can search for it manually by going to Settings / About phone / System updates / Download.

It is recommended to download and install the update as soon as it becomes available especially given the fact that it improves lots of features, including camera and menu.

DROID RAZR comes with an enhanced 8-megapixel camera with autofocus, LED flash and full HD (1080p) video recording capabilities. With the latest software update the camera features and quality will be improved.

In addition, stability of the menu access, browser, phone dialer, video playback and music player will be improved as well, in order to prevent Force Close errors and lockups.

Those who use the DROID RAZR with a compatible Lapdock will be happy to know that the update adjusts the background color to improve the readability in Lapdock connection user interface menu items.

It is also worth mentioning that the 3G/4G data connectivity has been improved, the group message notification has been updated, while the SIM Error notification has been fixed. The phone can now maintain network connection upon completion of a voice call.
