Verizon Wireless announced the availability of the Music Essentials Manager application for V CAST Music customers. The software, created by Smith Micro Software, runs on a PC and gives V CAST Music subscribers easier access to purchasing songs, downloading and managing music, and transferring music files from the PC to the mobile phone.

The V CAST Music library currently comprises more than 1.4 million songs. For 99 cents, V CAST Music customers can download songs from their Windows XP PC and synchronize them to their wireless phone. Music Essentials Manager allows customers to easily organize their V CAST Music and have their favorite tunes available on their mobiles.

"Verizon Wireless has been leading the mobile music industry since the launch of our V CAST Music service earlier this year," said Jesse Money, director of consumer data services for Verizon Wireless. "As technology continues to evolve and mobile phones and portable music players converge into single devices, Verizon Wireless continues to provide innovative software solutions like the Music Essentials Manager to help our customers further enhance the ease and reliability of their mobile music service."

The Music Essentials Manager can be used to transfer music from the PC to the following V CAST Music-enabled phones: LG VX8100, VX8300, Chocolate (LG VX8500), The V (LG VX9800), VX8600, Motorola RAZR V3m, MOTOKRZR K1m, Samsung SCH-a950, a930, a990, Nokia 6315i and Verizon Wireless CDM 8945.
