Despite of the fact that the Verbatim brand is traditionally associated to various computer accessories and storage solutions rather than the field of OLED ligthing, it seems that the company behind it, Mitsubishi Kagaku Media, has decided to tackle the latter market segment as well, revealing a new line of color-tunable OLED lighting solutions called VELVE.

The OLED lights are formed out of panels measuring around 14 cm by 14 cm, and provide quite a huge level of freedom from the point of view of design, enabling the development of all sorts of innovative shapes (especially since they're bendable and transparent).

According to the company, the name for this new lighting solution, VELVE, was borrowed from the English word velvet, as it tries to offer users a glimpse at the type of light this OLED solution can offer (“fine, and soft, yet deep luminance”, according to Verbatim).

Of course, the fact that users will be able to easily adjust the VELVE's light intensity is certainly a plus, not to mention the fact that they'll be able to opt for the colors that best suite their moods/environment.

In fact, from this point of view, we'd dare to say that Verbatim's VELVE OLED lighting solution will prove to be extremely popular for venues were environmental lights are quite popular, including night-clubs, bars, but also museums, exhibitions, etc.

Practically, there's no real limit to the range of applications for the VELVE solution, and we're pretty sure that this is one of the most interesting selling points Verbatim's light system has in store.

Unfortunately, for the time being, there's very little info available on the pricing and availability of these very interesting LED lighting solutions, and Verbatim has also refrained from pointing out whether VELVE will target the consumer market or will be made available solely for public institutions, etc.
