Without a doubt, Miley Cyrus made of the MTV Video Music Awards 2013, which aired live from Brooklyn, New York, her night. In fact, her performance caused such a storm online that even Robin Thicke is feeling a bit of resentment towards her for stealing his thunder.

As we also noted the other day, Miley performed her new single “We Can’t Stop” at the awards gala. There were giant dancing teddy bears, some twerking and several lewd gestures, but things only got worse once Thicke also stepped up on stage to sing “Blurred Lines.”

One insider tells US Magazine that this was supposed to be his night and Miley, with her antics, made sure that it wasn’t.

Clearly, anyone in Thicke’s position would feel upset about that, assuming the report is accurate.

“Robin thought it would be fun to include Miley, but he didn't realize how much she would overshadow him. This was his big night and big performance,” says one insider.

“I don't think he would have done it knowing what it ended up like,” adds the spy.

Another source only highlights how much fun Thicke had with Miley on stage.

“He had fun and was fine with how it came out. He knew what they were going to do and thought it was fun and awesome. He had a great time,” reveals the insider.

The same report notes that Thicke wasn’t the only one in the dark about how far Miley would take the performance, because the same goes for her management, who had zero knowledge of how the gig would end up looking.

Presumably, they’re petrified at what she did and thinking of ways to save (her) face.

“Miley's team is freaking about that performance. They saw the rehearsals, but those were really played down compared to the live performance,” the first insider dishes.

Below is the video of the performance, in case you missed it at the VMAs.
