This wasn’t fun or attractive, she’s clearly a deeply disturbed individual

The backlash has officially begun: Miley Cyrus performed at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards and shocked with her twerking, her barely-there outfits and countless obscene gestures. MSNBC’s Mika Brzezinski describes the gig as disgusting and pathetic.

Miley’s scandalous performance is now the talk of the town Internet, so it’s no wonder it also came up on Morning Joe, as the video above will confirm.

All guests agreed that it was in really bad taste and screamed desperation, but it was Brzezinski who spoke out on how Miley was “deeply disturbed” and needed help STAT, not to be put on a stage to parade her scrawny body around.

“I think that was really, really disturbing. That young lady, who is 20, is obviously deeply troubled, deeply disturbed, clearly has confidence issues, probably eating disorder and I don’t think anybody should have put her on stage. That was disgusting and embarrassing… That was not attractive,” she says.

“That was not fun. That was not funny. That was really, really bad for anybody who’s younger and impressionable and she’s really messed up… The whole thing was cringeworthy but I feel bad for her. She is a mess. Someone needs to take care of her. Someone needs not to put her on stage and make a complete fool of herself,” Brzezinski adds.

I agree that the performance was desperate and embarrassing, but to call out someone you don’t know for having “issues” and an eating disorder doesn’t seem fair.

Still, I don't think Miley cares because she wanted attention, and she got it.
