Back in late September, Sony introduced a new 11.1-inch ultra-portable computer system that had little to nothing to do with all those low-power, low-cost machines known as netbooks. Designed as the exact opposite of netbooks systems, the new TT-series machines from Sony are equipped with the latest in mobile computing technology built in a very small form factor. The company has officially introduced its TT-series to its European users.

“As well as a technically advanced ultra-portable of the highest quality, we wanted to create a notebook that was the embodiment of understated style,” said Hidetoshi Takigawa, Marketing Director for VAIO Of Europe. “The emphasis is on nuance and subtlety, which of course is very difficult to get just right. I have to say that it is a credit to our designers that they have succeeded completely, and the VAIO TT-Series is an eloquent testament to that achievement.”

Now, as you remember, the VAIO TT has been designed to take advantage of the performance levels achieved by Intel's small-sized Core 2 Duo SU9300 processor. In addition, the 11.1-inc TT-series also provides an impressive 4GB of RAM memory, 160GB of storage space and a number of connectivity options, including WLAN 802.11 a/b/g/n and VAIO Everywair WWAN for up to 7.2 Mbps Internet connectivity. The 11.1-inch X-black LCD with LED technology is able to render high-quality videos and images at a maximum resolution of 1366 by 768 pixels, all thanks to the built-in Mobile Intel GMA 4500MHD.

All of the above specifications are impressive, but the main feature made available on Sony's VAIO TT-series is that, despite its small form factor and light weight, the system is able to play Blu-ray discs, with the help of the integrated Blu-ray optical drive.
