It is always a burden to have to carry around many devices in order to have two phone lines available for use. Some dual sim devices might solve the problem in the case of mobile telephony and Bharti Airtel brings solutions for fixed ones too.

FCM technology allows people to use a single phone for making calls on a GSM network or a fixed line broadband network in the office or at home. This comes because people need simpler solutions and easier-to-use technology to make it more efficient.

In order to make this work, the mobile phone user needs a special dual-mode phone. Moreover, this device has to be compatible with both GSM networks and Wi-Fi and broadband connectivity in order to work at full potential.

The use for such a service is that people undertake almost 40 percent of all calls that are made on their mobile phones from the office or at home. This means that handsets are used in a large proportion indoors rather than outdoors. For this reason, Bharti Airtel has now made it possible so that they can benefit from the fixed-line charges when not on the go.

Such a service is also convenient for fixed-line operators, as people will prefer to use their services rather than those coming from a mobile network operator due to lower charges. Moreover, this could also mean more subscribers and higher profit rates.

Another advantage is that pressures on the spectrum will be considerably reduced. There is a considerable shortage of radio frequencies that enable wireless communication and, with this, the shortage has high chances of being reduced.

The Fixed Mobile Convergence (FMC) service is available for anyone who owns a dual-mode mobile handset. The price for such a device can be estimated somewhere around USD250.
