webOS-based devices have now an updated application available for them, in the form of a new version of the Facebook software solution released for the platform. According to the developers, the app is meant to offer users the possibility to stay connected with friends, share status updates, upload photos, browse friends’ photo albums and profiles, and more. Moreover, the application integrates with other aspects of Palm webOS and Synergy, and users can view Facebook info from the Contacts app, and more.

The features list of Facebook application for webOS includes: - Enhanced Inbox – Now, your inbox lets you compose, send, and reply, so you can always access your Facebook messages. - Photo albums – Now you can view photo albums from all your friends, not just the photos in their news feeds. Uploading photos is easier as well, and includes the ability to add captions. - Profiles – The new app lets you view users’ profiles, whether they are your friends or not. View and post to their walls, view their information, and see their photo albums (subject to privacy settings, of course). - Events and birthdays – Now you can see upcoming birthdays from your friend list as well as upcoming events. - Friend search – Easily find your friends using the Friend Search feature. This takes you to their profile, where you can see and post to their wall, view their information, and look at their photos.

The new version 1.1.0 of Palm's webOS Facebook application is available for download via the update function at the moment, and will indeed deliver an enhanced experience to users. The developing team has also focused on improving the News Feed area, which is now synced with the preferences set on the webpage, though there are still a series of features that are missing from the equation.

However, the application represents a great step forward, and future versions are expected to arrive to webOS-based mobile phones with even more enhancements, the developing team notes. “We plan to continue using this application to push ourselves as webOS developers, and to step into the shoes of our developers and live with the tools we give them,” a recent post on the Palm Developer Center Blog notes. You can watch a video presentation of the app here on Engadget.
