The latest software update delivered into the wild by Sunnyvale-based mobile phone maker Palm has arrived on Palm Pre Plus and Pixi Plus handsets available via Verizon Wireless too. The solution has been delivered to Palm Pre and Pixi devices on Sprint's network and for those in Europe, and now more users can download and install the solution on their handsets.

There are a great deal of novelties the new webOS 1.4 brings along, including video-recording capabilities for all handsets based on the platform, as well as support for Flash Player 10.1 for Palm Pre (Adobe's solution will become available for download later from the App Catalog), as well as various customization options. Other enhancements are also present with the new operating system upgrade, as well as bug fixes and security improvements.

Palm Pre Plus and Palm Pixi Plus owners on Verizon Wireless' network will also enjoy better synchronization with the Calendar and Email accounts. At the same time, they can also benefit from new options available on their handsets, including Erase Apps & Data or Erase USB Drive, the possibility to Add To Contacts a number in memos, or the option to dial a phone number directly from a conversation, and many others, including new blink notifications, user-selectable notification sounds, or the possibility to upload a recorded video on YouTube or Facebook.

As stated above, there are also security improvements included in the new software update, as well as system enhancements. The new webOS 1.4 operating system flavor seems to be one of the most important updates delivered by Palm to its users, and the fact that it announced it back in January proves this state of facts. Besides video recording, a feature many users have been asking for for a long time, the added support for Flash is one of the main enhancements of the OS, especially since not all smartphones on the market will taste the solution.
