It appears that a new leaked image has surfaced on a Japanese forum showcasing the upcoming Pentax 08 Wide Zoom lens.

Judging from this new image and having in mind the official specs announced last week, the new Pentax lens could be the smallest and lightest ultra-wide-angle zoom lens in the world.

The lens comes with a focal length of 3.8-5.9mm / 17.5-27mm (equivalent 35mm format), has a total length of 38mm and weighs only 75g / 2.64oz due to its aluminum made body.

The new lens also features a maximum aperture of f/3.7 to f/4.0 and incorporates three glass-molded aspherical elements to reduce flare or chromatic aberrations along with SP (Super Protect) coating.

The Pentax 08 Wide Zoom Lens will be announced later this month by the Nippon manufacturer along with the HD PENTAX-DA 20-40mm F2.8-4 ED Limited DC WR telephoto macro lens, both to be made available in mid-December.
