Two free exclusive maps for Unreal Tournament 3 have been released today by Ageia Technologies, along with the PhysX Mod-Kid, which will allow the modders to customize the game as they see fit.

The two new maps released, "Tornado" and "LightHouse", show us many of the things PhysX can do. The Tornado Mod brings a new element to the battle mode: an amazing and destructive tornado that lures any rockets or projectiles into its vortex, making it possible for players to try a new approach to the game. Using this risky tornado feature carefully and when the time is right might prove to be rewarding for the daring player.

The other map, the LightHouse, introduces a structure that resembles a dungeon with lots of hidden corridors, destructible walls, floors or ceilings and new weapons. These will allow all sorts of surprise attacks, hiding or ambush places, as well as lots of fun for those who like to destroy things around. The mod is available for download HERE.

But Ageia will not be the only ones able to build new maps or mod the UT3, as they will release the PhysX UT3 Mod-Kit, which will allow everybody who knows how to use it to customize the game. Tools, guides, tutorials and examples are also integrated.

"Designers and modders can use our powerful PhysX UT3 Mod-Kit and UE3 developers can build on the AGEIA Adaptive Physics EXtensions Platform to manipulate physically realistic and interactive worlds in next-generation games - this is what the future of modding and game design is all about.", declared Manju Hegde, CEO of Ageia.

Additional maps and mods implementing the PshisX effects and morphs will be released in the near future, in order to showcase the features this Mod-Kit offers and encourage other modders to use and explore it. The Unreal Tournament 3 Mod-Kit will be available for download from the Ageia's official site and distribution partners starting this December.
