Epic Games, also known as Epic and formerly as Epic MegaGames, is a computer game development company based in Cary, North Carolina, United States. However, most of us know it as the creator of the Unreal Tournament game series, a real masterpiece I could say.

Unreal Tournament, often abbreviated as UT, is one of those first-person shooter video games. First released back in 1998 under the name Unreal, the game enjoyed much popularity among the players and made quite a name due to its extraordinary 3D graphics but also as a major rival to id Software's Quake game. Considered by some technically superior to Quake, Unreal benefits of its own scripting language, called UnrealScript, which offered people the possibility of adding modifications for changing or enhancing the gameplay. The Epic Games took fair advantage of this feature and encouraged its community to contribute to the creation of new modifications by sponsoring different contests.

Unreal Tournament 3 is the forthcoming version, part of the Unreal series which is expected to ship somewhere this November. The game is wanted to be the sequel to the UT 2004 and it would be designed mainly for multiplayer gaming mode. Mark Rein, the VP of Epic Games, has recently made a post on his company forums, confirming what there have been speculations that the UT 3 game will be released not only for Windows, but also for Mac OS, Linux, Xbox 360 and Playstation 3. Wow, that's a something! "I continue to be disappointed that folks on the internet treat any positive thing we say about one platform as some sort of critique of another platform. We're a multi-platform company folks please come to grips with that. We like the PC. We like the 360. We like the PS3. We like the Macintosh. We like Linux. We will deliver UT3 for all of these platforms and it will rock on every one ..." wrote Mark Kein.

Yes, Mr. Kein, we like Linux too, and we can't wait to see your new game running on our Linux machines!
