First developers ran away from it, now they're practically in love with the PS3

What do you know, before the PS3's price cut announced by Sony spokesperson David Karraker, everyone was running away from the machine. Now that the world knows that both 60GB and 80GB models have seen a $100 price reduction, developers and publishers are throwing exclusives at the PS3. Well, not really (bad analogy), but Epic's Unreal Tournament 3 is indeed set for an exclusive release on Sony's next-gen platform.

The news comes straight from Eurogamer.biz, informing upon the fact that "Sony has announced a unique partnership with Epic Games at its E3 conference earlier today." By all means, Microsoft has had its share of success inviting Epic aboard with Gears of War, so naturally, Sony was going to try and get the developer working for them too, at some point.

"The raw power of PS3 and Unreal Engine 3 allows us to provide gamers with the full Unreal Tournament 3 first-person shooter experience normally found only on a PC," said Mark Rein, vice president of Epic Games in complementary press release.

"The PS3 is the ideal platform for us to deliver stunning visuals and awesome gameplay. But now, with the PlayStation Network, we're also delivering a great community experience and robust user-created content - everything that gamers have come to expect from the Unreal Tournament franchise - for the first time on a home entertainment system."

However, Microsoft's conference announced that Gears of War is indeed finally confirmed for the PC, as the same site reports and also that they have signed an exclusive deal with the developer, to include Games for Windows support, as an integral part of Unreal Engine 3. Epic is going through some good times...!

Good thing that news like this have started breaking out. People need to know that the PS3 isn't just a clunky, overpriced, overrated piece of gaming system, but the best of the best, as far as raw processing power is concerned. No doubt, Unreal Engine 3 will make great use of that Cell Processor of its.
