Hardy Alpha 6, Ubuntu in China, Sexylicious Ubuntu desktop and more

On Monday, a San Francisco non-profit foundation joined swords with Untangle, a San Mateo-based open-source vendor in order to co-sponsor an all-day "Installfest for Schools" event. The new approach to install-fests targets 500 refurbished computers with older hardware that will be donated to underprivileged students attending the nearby schools.

On Tuesday, Dell started to offer Ubuntu 7.10 on the Inspiron 530n desktop to customers in China, because of the high number of requests from the clients. Unfortunately, DVD playback will not be supported on Ubuntu 7.10, in China.

Last but not least, as expected, Ubuntu 8.04 LTS Alpha 6 has been released on Friday and it comes with new technologies, such as ActiveDirectory integration, iSCSI support, memory protection, a brand-new firewall, the latest and greatest 2.6.24.3 Linux kernel and many many more.
