As some of you might remember, we've talked a while ago about an Internet tablet running Ubuntu Linux being developed in China, but it seems that the respective model wasn't the only one, since yet another device providing the same level of functionality, but a much closer resemblance to Apple's iPad has managed to make its way online. According to GizInChina, who was actually directly involved in the development of the aforementioned Winpad-based tablet, the new device comes straight from the cloning “heaven” of Shenzen, China, and looks a whole lot more like the world's best-known Internet tablet, the iPad, featuring a more slender, streamlined design and enhanced level of portability.

Plus, we're not even talking about a dedicated Ubuntu device here, but rather about a dual-boot product, the tablet supporting both Linux and Windows 7 operating system.

And if you happen to be wondering, that's possible due to the fact that the 9.7-inch touchscreen tablet is built around an 1.6 GHz Atom CPU from Intel, accompanied by 1GB of RAM memory (upgradeable to 2GB), as well as an SSD storage unit, reaching a maximum capacity of 16GB, which should prove to be quite enough for most user's needs.

Unfortunately, these are just about all the technical details provided for the time being, as no word on the specific Ubuntu Linux version running on this thing has been offered, and the same goes for the pricing and availability details.

Although we're only talking about clones here, it's interesting to see that Ubuntu Linux is starting to become more popular with tablet makers, and although we're particularly fond of this open-source OS, we can't help but say that, when pitted against iOS, Windows 7 and Android tablets, Linux remains a minority targeting hardcore power-users and enthusiasts, rather than the mainstream crowd.
