Large French games publisher Ubisoft has just proclaimed that it has been the number one third party publisher of Kinect-compatible games in the last year, and that in 2011 it will continue to support Microsoft's new peripheral.

Kinect has really captured a huge amount of users since its release in November, with Microsoft saying that it has sold over 8 million units around the world.

A real incentive for its purchase, besides the possibility of hacking the device and using it with all sorts of things, was the pretty big number of titles that were released by both Microsoft and other third party developers.

Among them, Ubisoft takes great pride in proclaiming that it is number one, bringing a lot of interesting titles for the new motion detection peripheral.

Laurent Detoc, president of Ubisoft North America, stated, “We believed in the potential of Kinect from the start and we set out to be the leading third-party publisher. It worked. But this is only the beginning for us."

The company isn't done yet, and promises that it will continue to bring titles for the Kinect this year.

"We’ll be bringing some of the industry’s most innovative offerings to Kinect soon, starting with Michael Jackson The Experience, Child of Eden and others. We will have something for everyone.”

Ubisoft released three titles at the launch of the Kinect, Your Shape: Fitness Evolved, MotionSports and Fighters Uncaged.

In 2011, Ubisoft wants to continue the success of Michael Jackson: The Experience, which already sold 2 million units on the Nintendo Wii, DS and PSP, and is going to appear for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on April 12, 2011.

Child of Eden is another interesting title, as Ubisoft is working together with famous game creator Tetsuya Mizuguchi on the project.

Microsoft promised that 2011 would surprise a lot of Kinect owners and believes that more and more Xbox 360 owners will buy the new peripheral to get in on the motion-sensitive action.
