It's a tennis game with more than one racquet

While some studios have decided that it's time to focus less on releasing new Wii games and focus more on other platforms, Ubisoft doesn't mind offering some third-party software support for Nintendo's console. The developer has just unveiled the next Wii sports game, and, while it doesn't compete as far as diversity goes with the ones already made available by Nintendo, it could prove to be worth killing a few hours with. The game focuses solely on sports that require a racquet, so it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that it was entitled Racquet Sports.

The game is made up of five different racquet titles, though it's actually going to take a Sherlock Holmes-like detective to figure out what the actual gameplay difference is going to be. The games present in the trailer Ubisoft released on the title's official site are tennis, ping-pong, badminton, squash, and beach tennis. If the difference between them is a grain of sand at best, the one between tennis and beach tennis is even less.

The one thing that the title will have over the competition appears to be its Career mode, which should prove to be a somewhat deeper experience than the simple minigames found in Wii Sports. It will also support multiplayer for up to four players, in Party Mode that will feature special rules and random teams, though there isn't much variation for a randomize generator to work with four players in teams of two.

Some other four gameplay modes will be available, but these have not been detailed as of yet. The game will support MotionPlus, so it promises a lot more accuracy in your shots, as well as some diversity in your finishes. Apparently, the title will also use the camera that is made available by Ubisoft's latest Wii fit game, Your Shape, but in which way it will be employed is still unclear. Racquet Sports will be available in March 2010, and, like any Wii sports-game, it will probably sell like crazy.
