Nokia Siemens Networks has announced one of their biggest expansions from now on. They will sign a USD 900 million deal with India's Bharti Airtel main telecommunication service provider.

This is one of the most resource demanding partnerships that Nokia Siemens Networks has closed recently, among its numerous other deals. It is considerably profitable for India too, as this classifies for the largest GSM expansion that this country has registered until now.

"Nokia Siemens Networks has the experience and expertise in delivering integrated solutions and services and will enable Bharti Airtel to tap new market opportunities driven by convergence, optimize network performance and costs and continue to grow market share", said Simon Beresford Wylie, CEO of Nokia Siemens Networks. Moreover, the partnership between them and Bharti Airtel is one with some history, but never at such a large scale as this contract has placed it at.

"Bharti Airtel is undertaking a massive expansion and integration exercise across its mobile and fixed networks to significantly augment its service delivery capacity. Today's comprehensive network expansion contract is a reflection of this vision. Nokia Siemens Networks with its industry leading product portfolio and strong services capabilities is the strategic partner for Bharti Airtel to deliver on its vision of world class telecom services to its customers", said Manoj Kohli, President and CEO of Bharti Airtel.

As a result of their agreement, eight existing circles will benefit from the GSM expansion. Nokia Siemens already provides their services in these areas, but they plan on involving themselves even more in the future. The company plans on increasing the overall capacity of rural regions in India.

Nokia Siemens will provide network planning, implementation as well as project management, handling local logistics and materials as well as system integration for the base station sites. The collaboration between Nokia Siemens and Bharti Airtel seems to grow in time, as the last contract which they have signed was valued "only" at USD 400 million.
