Wireless carrier AT&T has just announced the launch of AT&T U-verse Mobile on a series of mobile phones running under Android, including the Samsung Captivate and HTC Aria, as well as on the coming soon Motorola BRAVO and Motorola FLIPSIDE.

The application was made available for download via the Android Market for all AT&T Mobility customers who own one of the said devices.

The launch of U-verse Mobile for Android marks the availability of the application on a number of no less than four mobile operating systems, AT&T notes, adding that it plans on making the solution available on more devices in the near future.

With this application, U-verse TV subscribers can browse the U-verse TV program guide from their mobile phones, while being able to schedule and manage their DVR recordings, or to download hit TV shows over any Wi-Fi connection, provided they have a qualifying TV plan.

“We continue to innovate and integrate across devices, and we’re proud to bring the popular U-verse Mobile app to Android users,” said Jeff Weber, vice president of video services, AT&T Mobility and Consumer Markets.

“We’re already ahead of our competitors in delivering TV content across screens, and we’ll keep focusing on bringing content to customers in new ways.”

Users interested in U-verse Mobile content should be able to browse or search a library of various shows available for download, from where they can find the specific episode they are interested in.

“The content is downloaded to your mobile phone over a Wi-Fi connection. All AT&T U-verse High Speed Internet customers have home Wi-Fi installed as part of their service and get access to AT&T’s entire national Wi-Fi network at no additional cost,” the company announced.

All U-verse TV customers can download and install the application on their devices, while those who subscribe to the U300 package or higher can download and watch select content.

“U-verse Mobile is the latest way that AT&T is mobilizing everything that’s important to customers — their favorite content, apps, entertainment and social networks. AT&T today delivers the nation’s fastest mobile broadband network as well as the nation’s largest Wi-Fi network,” the carrier added.
