U.S. Cellular has just announced that it is offering deals on various handsets from its portfolio, including Android-powered devices and messaging feature-phones

The carrier's main reason for this promotion is the graduation season. U.S. Cellular's deals run through June 9, and include the new Samsung Gem that runs Android 2.2 (Froyo), and features a 3.2-inch capacitive touchscreen and a 3.2 megapixel camera and camcorder.

Although Samsung Gem is the only Android smartphone that can be picked for free after mail-in-rebate, other devices are available at special prices.

The 7-inch Samsung Galaxy Tab is also available for just $199.99 after mail-in-rebate and with a $54.99 monthly data plan.

Our Android-powered devices help customers stay organized on-the-go by making it easy to synchronize multiple calendars and keep in touch via text message and e-mail,” said David Kimbell, vice president of marketing for U.S. Cellular.

At U.S. Cellular, we have the phones and plans you want that keep you connected to the people and information that are most important to you, all backed by our high-speed nationwide network that has the highest call quality and network satisfaction of any national carrier.”

In addition, the carrier also offers special deals for families with at least four members who switch to U.S. Cellular’s Premium Plus family plan. According to the carrier, the new deal can save more than $1,000 per year.

Customers can choose any of the Android smartphones offered by U.S. Cellular at special prices through June 9, such as the LG Optimus U for $29.99 and the Samsung Mesmerize for $149.99 after mail-in-rebates.

All U.S. Cellular’s messaging phones can be purchased for very low prices, such as the LG Saber, which symbolically costs just a penny.

Further details about U.S. Cellular’s deal, plans and phones offered during the promotion can be obtained by visiting the carrier's website and stores, or by checking out its Facebook wall.
