14 DAY TRIAL // Alltel Wireless has just expanded its Android smartphone lineup with four new devices that are now available in the carrier's retail stores, as well as online.
LG Axis, Samsung Gem, HTC Merge and Motorola Milestone X boost Alltel's offer for customers looking to purchase an Android smartphone.
The Samsung Gem runs on the same Android 2.1 platform and provides built-in Google mobile services including Google Search and Google Maps with turn-by-turn GPS navigation.
It features a bar form factor and comes with 3.2-inch TFT touchscreen with 262K colors support and 240 x 400 pixels resolution.
In addition to its 3-megapixel camera, the phone packs 124 MB internal memory, built-in GPS and microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 16GB).
The Gem is a mid-budget smartphone and is powered by an 800MHz processor.
Equipped with Android 2.1 and access to the Android Market, LG Axis allows owners to access thousands of applications for music, games and other entertainment categories.
The LG Axis comes with a slide-out QWERTY keyboard and a 3.2-inch TFT capacitive touchscreen with 262K colors and 480 x 800 pixels resolution.
The device is positioned in the low-cost category and is powered by a 600 MHz ARM 11 processor (with Adreno 200 GPU). A step up from the previous smartphone, the HTC Merge comes equipped with the Android 2.2 operating system and the HTC Sense UI.
The Merge offers users a wide range of features such as: Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n connectivity, DLNA function, 5-megapixel camera with autofocus and LED flash, Stereo FM radio with RDS, as well as built-in GPS.
The device bears the same slide-out form factor with a full QWERTY keyboard as the LG Axis, but has a slightly larger 3.7-inch capacitive touchscreen with 16 million colors support and 480 x 800 pixels.
The Motorola Milestone X is the top-tier Android smartphone at Alltel. The device allows users to record videos in crystal crisp HD quality, which can be seen on the 4.3-inch high-res touch screen.
Additionally, the 8-megapixel camera camera provides clear pictures and features touch-to-focus, dual LED flash, panoramic mode, face detection and more.
The memory on the sleek and ultra-thin phone can expand to 40GB (8GB on-board and up to 32GB optional removable).
