Vampire flick continues to be a favorite

The “vampire frenzy” ignited last year with “Twilight,” starring Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner, is not even close to coming to an end, E! Online believes. If the sense of anticipation surrounding “New Moon,” the second film in the franchise, is no indication of its success, the 2009 SCREAM Awards can function as confirmation for the above statement, as “Twilight” scooped four awards in major categories.

Lautner, the young actor who plays wolf Jacob Black in the films, stood for all things Twilight during Saturday’s event. He also personally got to take home the award offered by Spike TV, during the yearly traditional ceremony celebrating sci-fi and horror productions, for the Best Breakthrough Male Performance, a category where co-star Robert Pattinson had also been nominated. Still, that’s not to say the British heartthrob, or his equally popular and adorable onscreen love interest, Stewart, did not win anything.

“The tasty Taylor Lautner was the talk of the night, not only picking up one of the four Twilight trophies, beating out resident heartthrob Robert Pattinson for Breakout Male Performance (don’t worry! R. Pattz and rumored ladylove Kristen Stewart skipped the festivities, but both won Best Fantasy Actors).” E! writes. “Twilight” also won the ultimate distinction of the evening, taking home the award for Best Fantasy Movie, as most fans expected it would.

Lautner, who came to the festivities with “his game face on,” as E! puts it, also presented the audience with a brand-new clip from the upcoming film, “New Moon,” which arrives in theaters on November 20. Although the video has not yet been made available anywhere, since the awards ceremony will only air on Spike TV on October 27 (at 10:00 PM ET/PT), Twi-hards won’t have to wait that long for something new about their favorite film, as the video below shows. ET will air footage of the werewolf transformation tonight.

Other winners at the 2009 SCREAM Awards included Megan Fox, who also made it a point of telling the world where she stood as to the “Transformers” franchise, Johnny Depp, HBO series “True Blood” and “Star Trek.” Below is the complete list of winners.
