14 DAY TRIAL // Concept devices are always a reason to be amazed, and the newly spotted Triple Flip phone is among those which would easily make you want more.
The new Triple Flip concept handset comes from SchultzeWORKS design studio, and runs Microsoft's Windows Phone 7 operating system, being the very first such device to be powered by this platform.
The development team behind this concept phone claims that the whole project is based on the idea that the functionality of touchscreen handsets might reach its limits of usefulness in the not too far future.
“We looked at the areas where smart phones were falling short and then delivered seven innovations to make them truly better. We had a few more, but seven was a good place to stop,” lead designer Dave Schultze explains.
Since this is a concept device, the hardware specifications it would boast are not relevant, but the functionality it can deliver is noteworthy.
Another important factor is the fact that this device runs under the Windows Phone 7 platform, a rather new OS to the market.
Available handsets powered by it might already be impressive, but it seems that there is a lot of room for much more appealing handsets.
Not to mention that the OS itself was received rather well around the world, and that there are some who expect it to prove a great competitor in the battle against Google’s Android and Apple’s iOS platforms.
The work on the new Triple Flip project was focused mainly on reshaping the manner in which cell phones operate at the moment.
“The final design result is a fresh new take on all aspects of the user experience, from mobile video to gaming to solar re-charging — and quite a bit more,” a post on SchultzeWORKS reads.
“The group of innovative features that resulted proved dynamic enough to require a ‘high-techno’ 3D animation in order to capture the intensely kinetic nature of the styling.”
