The protests in the George Zimmerman non-guilty verdict for the killing of Trayvon Martin have spread across state lines.

Hundreds of protesters took to the streets in New York starting Sunday, July 14, when the verdict was read out.

“No Justice, No Peace!” they chanted, according to the NY Daily News. The rally began in Union Square and demonstrators headed for Times Square, carrying signs and demanding for Zimmerman to be placed behind bars.

“I'm in #UnionSquare with hundreds of New Yorkers all seeking #justiceforTrayvon. We must end #profiling in America,” Councilman Jumaane Williams wrote on Twitter.

In LA, mayor Eric Garcetti urged residents to keep the march violent-free, but the protests have turned into riots in some areas.

As I wrote, the DOJ could still launch a civil rights case against Zimmerman, as the NAACP is asking.
