After the first poster for the sci-fi action movie “Cowboys & Aliens,” which came out the other day, fans can finally have a proper look at it thanks to the first official trailer – which has hit the web just hours ago, as Gather

can confirm.

The film stars Daniel Craig (somewhat thinner than back in his days as the smooth-talker 007, but still visibly very fit) as Jake Lonegan, a cowboy who wakes up in the middle of the desert with a strange bracelet thingy on his arm and no recollection of how he got there – or who he is, for that matter.

As it turns out, Lonegan is a fugitive; therefore, he must be handed over to the Marshall and be made to pay for his crimes, whatever these are.

Other big stars in the film are “House M.D.” stunner Olivia Wilde and “Indiana Jones” icon Harrison Ford. The first plays a mysterious traveler who seems to know Lonegan’s secret, the latter just wants to see him punished.

As the trailer also reveals, this would be just your average western if it weren’t for an alien invasion. Apparently, the shackle on Lonegan’s arm could also be the means to protect humans from the aliens – but only on the condition that they let him go and not turn him in. “Cowboys & Aliens” is directed by “Iron Man” helmer Jon Favreau, and was produced by huge names like Steven Spielberg, Brian Grazer and Ron Howard – so that’s the closest thing to a guarantee that it will be one mad adrenaline-inducing ride.

It will also – most likely – turn out to be quite a special effects feast, since it comes with a reported budget of $100 million, most of which went into post-production. Shooting was done in California and New Mexico.

Though the trailer has only been out a few hours now, word in the blogosphere has it that “Cowboys & Aliens” stands excellent chances of being next year’s biggest summer blockbuster.

It certainly seems to have the key ingredients for that. Check out the trailer below – and enjoy.
