Berbie has updated TrailRunner, its route-planning software for Mac OS X. The new release is recommended to all TrailRunner users, as it delivers stability improvements as well as new additions, and can be downloaded for free right here, on our website.

TrailRunner can calculate a route for the desired distance, and export directions onto the users' iPod. This way, they get detailed orientation, while keeping the workout going. In recent releases, the company has introduced the ability to display collected workout data within the program, matching the recordings with routes created by users. TrailRunner integrates with nikeplus.com, the online community for the Nike SportBand, and the Apple Nike+ iPod Sport Kit-running devices.

The release notes for TrailRunner 1.9.1.363 reveal that Berbie has been hard at work addressing a problem where, in some cases, a published weblog displayed the same image for different entries, while adding new features and improving the existing ones.

According to Berbie, the attempt to remove a waypoint or section that is being used by a route gives now the option to directly remove the route. Also improved is the undo command on removing waypoints, tracks and routes. The developer has added Cadence data import for Garmin Oregon GPX files and last, but not least, has updated the Spanish localization.

Thanks to other recent updates, TrailRunner now has the ability to import and display lap information from Garmin fitness devices. Garmin, for its part, has recently updated the Garmin ANT Agent to version 2.0.3, also available as a free download right here, on our website.

Although not new on the Mac front, TrailRunner is still in the pre-release state. All current releases of TrailRunner will run for about three months. Berbie urges users to regularly update to the most current version, as well as review and accept the License Agreement that comes with the application, before using it. TrailRunner versions above 1.6 (including the one available for download today) require Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard to run. The only remaining version supported on Tiger is TrailRunner 1.6. Both supported versions are available using the download links below. Download TrailRunner (Free)
