Two months after Toshiba officially announced the US introduction of the Excite X10 Android tablet, the company has now finally provided us with a launch date for this ultra-thin slate that will arrive on March 6 as the Excite 10 LE.

Meant to become a premium Android tablet, the 7.7mm (0.3 inches) thick Excite X10 is the slimmest 10.1-inch slate around and is powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core TI OMAP 4430 Cortex A9 SoC paired together with 1GB of LPDDR2 RAM.

Two configurations with either 16GB or 32GB of storage space are available, while the rest of the specs list includes a 5MP rear-facing camera, a 2MP front-facing snapper, Micro HDMI, Micro USB, WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity.

As most other 10.1-inch Android tablets, the Excite 10’s display has a resolution of 1280x800, while the operating system of choice is Android 3.2 Honeycomb that will be upgradeable to ICS later this spring.

Battery life is estimated by Toshiba at about eight hours and the tablet weighs a mere 1.18 pounds (535g).

“Excite 10 LE embodies what a luxury tablet should be,” said Carl Pinto, vice president of product development, Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc., Digital Products Division.

“We have engineered this tablet with premium materials and components, given it elegant yet durable styling and more connectivity options than any other tablet in its class, while fitting everything into an astonishingly thin and light design,” concluded the company’s rep.

As mentioned previously, the Toshiba Excite 10 LE will become available on March 16 with a starting price of $529.99 (about 397 EUR) for the 16GB version.

If you need more storage space, then the 32GB model of the Excite 10 LE should be better suited for you, but this will cost you an extra $70 (52 EUR).
