The most realistic skateboarding experience

For quite some time, the skateboarding game genre has been synonymous with the Tony Hawk franchise, developed by Activision and endorsed by the famous skateboarder. However, recently we've seen some new contenders threatening the popular series, and, as such, Electronic Arts' Skate managed to stand on equal grounds with Tony Hawk's latest game, Proving Ground.

Now, it seems that Hawk will continue his partnership with Activision for the next game in the franchise, as Tony Hawk's Adrenaline was announced a while ago. Although the game has been known of for some time now, no important details were unveiled by the two parties, as both Activision and the famous skateboarder declined commenting on the development of this title.

That is until now, as Tony Hawk decided to share a few details about this next game. He recently talked with Cnet about his involvement in the development process and how he thought that this new game might be the most realistic skateboarding simulator because it would offer a great experience to all the gamers around the world.

“Basically, we start with an idea and then we start creating it. I'm there every step of the way so that nothing gets decided before it's too late, including things like characters and locations and tricks and challenges. I've actually always been there throughout the process, playing it and making suggestions and just keeping it authentic, because that's the most important thing to me. With our next release I can guarantee you that it's as close to real skating as you'll ever come.”

Although these are pretty impressive words, Adrenaline seems to be a big title and, because it is the tenth in the franchise, you can surely expect some interesting features to be added. Unfortunately, the game doesn't have a concrete release date scheduled as only the fact that it will appear in 2009 is known, so until then, living-room skateboarders are going to have to settle with Proving Ground.
