In what can’t but be described as the epitome of elegance and class, Cicely Tyson took to the stage at the Tony Awards 2013 last night to accept the award for Leading Actress in a Play for her role in “The Trip to Bountiful.”

Above is her acceptance speech.

Mrs. Tyson returned to the stage after a 30-year-absence for “Bountiful” and this was her first Tony win in her entire career.

“I’m the sole surviving member of my immediate family. I’ve asked over and over again why. I now know why,” she said.

However, the most touching moment came when her cue to “wrap it up” came in.

“Please wrap it up, it says… which is exactly what you did to me. You wrapped me up in your arms after 30 years, and now I can go home with a Tony,” she said with grace before leaving the stage.
