Earlier this month, TLC came under heavy fire after airing footage of 6-year-old Alana apparently being doped during a beauty pageant show on “Toddlers & Tiaras.” The mystery of the Go Go Juice has just been solved.

Those not familiar with the TLC series should just know that it centers around moms and daughters who take part in kiddie beauty pageants.

June Holler from Virginia came to international media attention after she was shown giving Alana a drink she called the “Go Go Juice,” one that would make her more “lively” for the shows, as we also reported at the time.

Dr. Drew tested the beverage on one of his recent shows, as the video below will confirm.

June and Alana came on (with Alana in full makeup and costume mode), bringing along a bottle of the controversial concoction, which, until now, was believed to be either caffeine- or alcohol-based.

It turns out the former option is the correct one: Holler is giving her daughter a combination of Mountain Dew and Red Bull.

At the time the original episode of “Toddlers & Tiaras” (see the second video below, embedded at the end of the article) aired, Holler also insisted that she wasn't doing anything to harm her daughter, albeit many could argue now that giving her Red Bull isn't exactly healthy either.

“A lot of pageant moms and people know what the 'special juice' is, everybody has their different concoctions. Special juice is to help energize her,” she said at the time.

Every mom on kiddie beauty pageants have one such trick up their sleeve as well, it's a sort of trade secret, if you will.

“A lot of moms say, 'Oh, well you’re doping up your child,' well hey, no I’m not. I’m not hurting her. We have tried the pixie sticks that are known as 'pageant crack,' we went through 15 bags at one pageant and they just don't do anything for her,” Holler added.

“Pageant crack” is sugar.
