They’re two of the highest paid models of the moment, with bodies women all over the world would kill for. Miranda Kerr and Alessandra Ambrosio clearly have figures that are the result of many hours of training, constant healthy eating and the occasional period on a diet but, in a piece for Shape magazine, they insist it doesn’t take this much effort to look smashing on the beach this summer. All it takes is some inspiration and knowing a few tricks.

Like how, for instance, you should always choose a bathing suit you’re comfortable in and not simply go for the trends. Being trendy is always a good thing but, as it happens, in real life, many women don’t have the body to rock who knows what futuristic creation. In many cases, the two models say, women are one size in the upper part and another one in the bottom, which is why they should choose stores that sell these items separately. It’s not what you wear but how you wear it that matters on the beach, the two beauties point out.

Another trick to looking fabulous this summer is trying to find the time to squeeze in exercise whenever possible. “An athlete all her life – growing up in Australia, she played basketball and did gymnastics – Miranda has always been active. ‘I don’t do it so much for what’s on the outside as for what’s on the inside. I just know that when I exercise, I’m more energized and productive.’ Although she hasn’t had time for team sports in a while (‘I have literally worked six days a week, barring Christmas, for months,’ she says), she squeezes in at least a bit of yoga every day. ‘Sometimes you’ll even find me doing down dog or sun salutations between shots!’” Shape writes, citing Miranda.

“Even supermodels splurge – but in moderation. ‘I’d say I’m 80 percent organic and 20 percent indulgent,’ admits Miranda. She loves juicing (blending spinach, carrots, beets, and ginger) and indulges in a good steak when she’s feeling run down. What about those days when the last thing you want to do is slip on a suit? When Alessandra feels puffy, her strategy is to avoid carbs and load up on fruit, salad, lean meat (like chicken), and tons of water. Her secret weapon: fresh watermelon juice,” Shape further writes.

Miranda is a strong believer that real beauty comes from inside, as ironic as that may sound coming from her. She says knowing how to focus on one’s best assets is key to a healthy body image, guaranteeing the required confidence in one’s looks to rock the bathing suit on the beach this summer.
