Alessandra Ambrosio, one of the highest rated models of the day, is also a new mommy, having given birth to a baby girl in August 2008. Yet, unlike other celebrity mothers who have struggled for months to shed the baby weight, Alessandra credits her good genes and just one yoga session a week for her enviable shape, according to several media outlets.

Just the other week, Alessandra stunned her male fans when she went to the beach and revealed no sign of baby fat whatsoever, showing off a sculpted abdomen and the delicate frame that has made her one of the highest paid Angels for Victoria’s Secret. Moreover, while most have been of the opinion that a crash diet and a heavy workout have been responsible for Alessandra bouncing back to her older frame so quickly, the model herself says it’s all in good genes. And some yoga.

“Call it the Model Myth – a svelte celebrity who claims she doesn’t work out to maintain her enviable physique. Victoria’s Secret model Alessandra Ambrosio told guests at Russell James’ book launch on Wednesday that she barely lifted a finger to get her body back after having a baby. ‘I only do yoga once a week or so, but that’s it for now,’ she shrugged.” GateCrasher reports in one of its most recent posts.

If Alessandra is so lucky as to be able to shed the baby weight by doing almost nothing (then again, she neither gained that much weight while pregnant), other stars struggle months in a row to get the desired results. Spice Girls Emma Bunton and Geri Halliwell, for instance, went on diets and worked out at least three times a week after giving birth to shed the excess pounds.

“I put on a normal amount of weight when I was pregnant with Beau, but it took me a year to get back to the weight I’d been before he was born. I did it very naturally and slowly. I went to the gym two or three times a week and ate healthily. Now, I'm really happy with my figure. I’m exercising three times a week. I go for a run or take our dogs for a walk – and I’m almost enjoying it. It’s got to be about balance though, being healthy but not letting it rule your life.” Emma Bunton has revealed in a recent interview.
