The mobile phone carrier confirmed plans to range the new HTC Flyer tablet, but did not announce any official release date as of now, nor did it specify a price tag for the device.

The new HTC Flyer was introduced on Tuesday with a 7-inch touchscreen display that boasts a 1024 x 600 pixel resolution, a 1.5GHz application processor inside, 1GB of RAM, and 32GB of internal memory (a microSD memory card slot enables users to expand it).

The larger display this device includes when compared to smartphones was meant to make e-reading, watching movies and browsing the web more appealing than before, all in a pocketable form factor.

Moreover, the new device would include a tablet flavor of the Sense User Interface when made available for purchase with the Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system on board (the company plans on upgrading it to the next Android flavor soon after).

The specifications list of this tablet PC would also include a 5-megapixel photo snapper, along with a front facing 1.3MP camera for video calling.

Moreover, it also sports a 4,000 mAh battery, WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity options, HSPA+ wireless capabilities, 3.5mm headphone jack, built-in GPS receiver, microUSB port. The HTC Flyer measures 195.4 x 122 x 13.2 mm and weighs in at 415g.

David Kerrigan, Head of Mobile Broadband at Three says, “The HTC Flyer is a great addition to Three’s growing range of tablets – its small size combined with our award winning network means constant connectivity allowing our customers to experience a reliable and speedy mobile Internet at any time.

“Our HTC smartphones have been extremely popular with our customers, which is why we are very excited to range the company’s first tablet.”
