UK carrier Three has just introduced a red version of the HTC Wildfire in its portfolio. No different than its black counterpart, the red HTC Wildfire is offered free with various types of contracts.

HTC Wildfire can be considered the low-budget disciple of the highly-acclaimed HTC Desire smartphone.

They both feature almost same specs, the only differences are the missing physical buttons from the Wildfire front face, smaller memory, low-powered CPU, as well as size.

For those out of the loop, HTC Wildfire is powered by Qualcomm MSM 7225 528 MHz processor and runs Android OS, v2.1 (Eclair).

It comes with a medium-sized 3.2-inches TFT capacitive touchscreen (240 x 320 pixels resolution) with 16 Million colors support, Multi-touch input method, Accelerometer sensor for UI auto-rotate, Touch-sensitive controls, Proximity sensor for auto turn-off, Optical trackpad, Turn-to-mute and lift-to-dim-out a call.

HTC Wildfire includes the same HTC Sense UI that runs on most of HTC's Android smartphone.

Other key features of the device include: HSDPA, 7.2 Mbps, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g connectivity, GPS with A-GPS support, Digital compass, Bluetoot 2.1 with A2DP support, 3.5 mm audio jack, 5.0-megapixel camera, with autofocus, LED flash, smile detection, and geo-tagging.

In terms of software HTC Wildfire is stuffed with all social network services (Facebook, Flickr, Twitter), Google Search, Maps, Gmail, YouTube, Google Talk, Picasa, and Instant Messaging.

Wildfire has a smaller 1300 mAh Li-Ion battery compared with Desire's 1400 mAh Li-Ion. It offers a standby time of up to 480 h (up to 690 h for 3G network), and up to 7 h 20 min (up to 8 h 10 min for 3G network) talk time.

Three subscribers can choose the red HTC Wildfire for free, but they will need to opt for one of the two-year contracts, with prices ranging from £30 to £19 per month.
