Midway postpones its GTA competitor

Some would really love to know that "This is Spartaaa", but Midway wants to prove that, actually, This is Vegas and it is much better. Dubbed as a game which is able to compete head to head against Grand Theft Auto IV, Midway's sandbox title seems to get its inspiration from Take Two's game even when it comes to delays because, unfortunately, This is Vegas, initially set for a fall 2008 release has been delayed to 2009. They haven't even mentioned which quarter and that scares us a little!

As you probably know, a big difference in this upcoming Midway game compared to others is the fact that it is really adult-friendly (and we can understand that, since we're talking about a story happening in the Sin City!). The website will let you throw a quick glimpse at what's going to come, but we're really sure that the developers are keeping their best screenshots for later this year.

The game is an open world, lifestyle action experience, where players will live out their Vegas fantasies by fighting, gambling, racing and partying their way through the most fast-paced and wildest city in the world. You will have to do your best and resurrect the famous city when a powerful businessman starts turning it into a family-friendly tourist trap - we all know that what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, and family-friendly should not be one of the things that happen. But you will have to wait a bit longer than expected in order to fight for such a noble cause.

Also, in order to ease our pain, Midway has released a bunch of new screenshots from the game but they are totally not safe for work and, especially, for kids, so we'll have to say "sorry for not showing them". But don't worry, if you are old enough (the game will more likely get an "M" rating), you will definitely enjoy it when it's ready. Which is sometime during 2009...
