A recently published report from Juniper Research shows that the number of corporate devices that will include security software solutions is expected to reach 77.7 million by 2014. At the same, the research firm also notes that the value of data on corporate mobile phones is expected to increase a lot in the following years, something that will have the same result, even if an already expected wave of malware hasn't hit handsets yet.

“Improvements to the underlying security of the mobile operating system, shorter replacement cycles and concerted efforts by the mobile industry to avoid the problems seen in the PC world have so far kept the malware threat to the mobile device at bay,” says Anthony Cox, senior analyst at Juniper Research.

According to the Juniper Research ‘Endpoint Security for Business: Desktops, Laptops & Mobile Devices 2009-2014,’ the leading market when it comes to mobile security is expected to be Europe, mainly due to the large number of smartphones available in the area. US, China and South East Asia are the markets to follow in the top, the research firm notes. According to the report, the growth in security on corporate mobile handsets will be driven by the increasing value of information on those devices.

Other findings of the report also include: Security software manufacturers have focused on the need for Encryption and device locking and remote-wipe features Protection will be higher in developed markets with both Western Europe and North America at the forefront, largely on the back of companies’ obligations to abide by data protection legislation Corporate mobile device protection levels will rise from 5.6% in 2008 to 18.6% in 2014

The ‘Endpoint Security for Business: Desktops, Laptops & Mobile Devices 2009-2014’ study also includes major analysis of mobile and Endpoint security, along with comprehensive six year forecasts for security parameters, including basic antivirus and firewall security, advanced firewalls, intrusion detection and prevention, virtual private networks (VPN), security of corporate mobile devices, and more.
