Mini cars for a great arcade racing experience coming this summer

With games like Gran Turismo 5 Prologue getting closer and closer we have a proof that "real" and "racing/car games" will soon have the same meaning. Of course we have nothing against that and we love playing some racing games that really manage to give us the "on the road" feeling, but sometimes the good ol' arcade titles, with crazy jumps, collisions and gravity-defying controls are exactly what we want to play.

If you agree with that, you should know that SouthPeak Games might have the right answer, since it has announced the release of Things On Wheels for the Xbox 360 consoles. The game promises to be an accessible, pure arcade racing title placing players at the helm of radio-controlled vehicles as they compete on tracks set within a gigantic house. This makes me think waaay back, when I was playing Micro Machines - if they would manage to bring the same great experience and multiplayer fun (and I see no reason why they shouldn't), it's going to be a great hit!

Together with the radio controlled mini cars and super cool graphics, we have another innovation: Things On Wheels comes with a non-linear track design, which allows you to move freely between the house's rooms, which have everyday items as hazards and obstacles. It's entirely possible that a championship could be won by taking the right path around a set of table legs, or cruelly lost by failing to avoid the searing heat of an electric heater. Well, that sounds like plain, pure fun, especially in multiplayer mode.

"We've been looking to move into Xbox Live Arcade titles and Load Inc. wanted to do something brand new with the racing genre. This really appealed to us," said Melanie Mroz, CEO of SouthPeak Games. "Competing with real life remote control cars is great fun, so why not do it in a videogame? Things on Wheels will deliver the same reckless thrill and as such, is a perfect candidate for us to announce as our first Xbox Live Arcade game."

Things On Wheels will be released this summer as an Xbox 360 exclusive.
