Thermalright, a company well known by computer enthusiasts for its high-performance cooling solutions, has recently announced that is getting ready to ship in Europe the high-performance HR-02 Macho CPU cooler.

This latest tower cooler developed by Thermalright targets both overclockers and gamers alike and is designed to deliver low operating temperatures while using a 140mm fan.

With a speed range between 900 and 1300 RPM, this was optimized in order to deliver a noise-free operation when running and its sound output is rated at 21dBA at its highest rotation speed, where it also provides 73CFM of airflow.

Users who want even more silence can also opt for removing the fan altogether, since the heatsink features wide spaces between its fins to allow for the heat to dissipate even when a fan isn't installed.

Speaking of heat, this is transferred from the CPU and into the heatsink via six heatpipes that measure 6mm in diameter.

These are linked to a nickel plated copper base that uses Thermalright's traditional convex shape, which the company states ensures the highest thermal conducting efficiency.

In spite of Thermalright's claims, this design decision has proven to be quite controversial in the past, with many enthusiasts claiming that lapping the base can provide even better performance.

Outside of the heatsink and fan, the HR-02 Macho CPU cooler is also bundled together with an universal retention system, which is compatible with Intel LGA 775/ 1155/ 1156/ 1366 and AMD Socket AM2(+)/ AM3(+) sockets, a metal backplate and thermal paste.

When installed, the entire cooler (including fan) measures 150x129x162mm and weights around 1Kg.

Right now, we don't know when the HR-02 Macho will make its appearance in retail stores, but Thermalright has set the recommended price at €37.90. (via TCMagazine)
