The biggest Japanese wireless carrier, NTT DoCoMo has decided to launch the Yahoo search engine technology on its internet browsing service. This was the next step expected from the Japanese mobile phone operator, which goes along with the idea of luring the users that use their browsing technology to spend more time surfing and visiting online stores for shopping.

Besides the Yahoo search technology, DoCoMo is offering access to many other search engines, the list includes Google and a unit of Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation.

The Japanese carrier shows to the entire world how open minded it really is, by including among its services the technologies of other rival companies, such as the Yahoo Japan Corporation, which is a unit of its biggest competitor in Japan on the mobile phone services market.

Another strong point in the DoCoMo strategy is the fact that they are using a type of open platform which can be accessed by any search engine company, in contradiction to its rivals, Softbank, which uses search technology only from Yahoo Japan, and KDDi Corp., which uses only search engine services from Google.

NTT DoCoMo has also said that they will offer their customers, beginning with this Thursday, the possibility to use a list of 13 search engines to keep them company on their web surfing adventures.
